Alton is a pretty little hamlet in the parish of Ashover and thus has access to good local amenities including public houses, a butcher, post office, shop, church and playing fields. The larger conurbations of Matlock and Chesterfield are within an easy drive with their wider array of shopping, transport and recreational facilities. The property sits on the edge of the Peak District National Park with its wide array of outdoor pursuits and there are many places of historical interest nearby including Chatsworth, Haddon and Hardwick Halls to name but a few.
